4 phases.

and you thought there were 5 stages of grief. not according to my grief counselor. just a reminder. more to myself, than to everyone else. but if it helps others, so be it.

1. Acknowledgement of the loss
2. Feeling the pain
3. Adjusting to the world where the person is not there
4. Taking the energy you spent on that relationship and putting it elsewhere

*usually, but not necessarily, sequential. may repeat. no guarantees on how long each phase will last. Also, not guaranteed to get any easier over time. be patient with yourself.

bear with me. and sorry, if you had to read that. but it was therapeutic.

Wow, that's very different from the list I always thought.  Isn't there supposed to be an "anger" stage where you knock over newspaper boxes and verbally abuse strangers?

Just remember that you have friends who are willing to help. Time heals all wounds.
